questions
Plain answers.
The app isn't out yet. Here's what we're building, in normal words.
Is luey out?
No. It is coming soon on iPhone. Join the list and you will get one note when you can download it.
Who is it for?
Friend groups. People who go out, date, travel, walk home, and want the people they trust looking out for them. It should feel normal for the whole group to have it.
Does it call 911?
No. luey tells your trusted group. It does not call the police, an ambulance, or emergency services for you. If you need them, you contact them yourself.
Who can see my location?
Only the people in your active session, and only while that session is on. You should be able to see who that is, and a time that shows whether the location is fresh. When the session ends, sharing stops.
What is a session?
A stretch of time when a group is actively looking out for each other. One person starts it. Others accept or decline. One active session at a time. It should not run forever in the background of your life.
What is the quiet screen?
When you open luey during a session, it starts on a plain dark screen so a glance does not announce "safety app." Swipe right to see the normal app. The phone will not force luey open over other apps by itself.
What is the difference between uncomfortable and emergency?
Three taps means uncomfortable: something feels wrong and you want your people to pay attention, without a scene. A long hold means emergency: you need them now, with who, where, and when. I'm good is a separate, smaller check.
What if I miss a check-in?
A missed "I'm good" is a reason for your group to look. On its own, it doesn't mean there's an emergency. We're careful about false alarms.
How much will it cost?
Nothing. luey is free. Safety shouldn't cost money.
Where does the giving go?
When we can give, we will. Donations through luey are not set up yet. In the meantime, please visit RAINN and End Rape on Campus and donate there. The giving page has both, plus the hotline if you need help tonight.
